Student Internship Disclaimer Agreement
This agreement must be read, understood, and signed by all students participating in internships while enrolled at Middlesex University Dubai.
1. Academic Performance Understanding
I understand and acknowledge that:
The internship is supplementary to my academic commitments, and my studies must remain my primary focus. Any decline in academic performance may result in the termination of the work arrangement. The University reserves the right to withdraw approval for my participation if my academic performance falls below the required standard.
2. University Liability Limitations
I understand and acknowledge that:
The University's role is limited to facilitating the connection between students and employers. The University does not guarantee the quality, safety, or suitability of any work placement. While the University conducts basic verification of employers, it is not liable for any workplace incidents, disputes, or negative experiences that may arise during the placement.
3. Employment Relationship
I understand and acknowledge that:
The employment relationship exists solely between me and the employer. The University is not party to any employment contract and bears no responsibility for salary payments, workplace conditions, or employment disputes. Any concerns regarding employment terms must be addressed directly with the employer or appropriate external authorities.
4. Health and Safety Responsibilities
I understand and acknowledge that:
While participating in internships, I am responsible for following all workplace health and safety protocols. I must immediately report any safety concerns to both my employer and the University's Career Office. I am responsible for ensuring I have appropriate insurance coverage for my role.
5. Confidentiality Obligations
I understand and acknowledge that:
I must maintain strict confidentiality regarding any sensitive information I encounter during my internship. This includes business information, trade secrets, and personal data. This obligation continues even after the completion of my internship. Any breach of confidentiality may result in disciplinary action by both the employer and the University.
6. Code of Conduct Compliance
I understand and acknowledge that:
During my internship, I remain a representative of the University and must comply with both the University's Code of Conduct and the employer's workplace policies. Any breach may result in termination of the placement and potential disciplinary action by the University.
7. Visa Compliance (For International Students)
I understand and acknowledge that:
It is my responsibility to ensure compliance with all visa requirements and working hour restrictions. Any breach of visa conditions may affect my immigration status and academic enrollment. I must immediately notify the University of any changes in my work arrangements.
8. Data Protection Consent
I understand and acknowledge that:
The University may share relevant personal information with potential employers for placement purposes. I consent to the appropriate sharing of my academic and personal information as necessary for placement administration.
9. Early Termination
I understand and acknowledge that:
The placement may be terminated early by any party (University, employer, or myself) with appropriate notice. Early termination may impact future placement opportunities. I must follow proper procedures if I wish to terminate the placement early.
10. Financial Obligations
I understand and acknowledge that:
I am responsible for all expenses related to the placement unless otherwise specified in writing by the employer. This includes travel, accommodation, and any required professional certifications or equipment.
